RAWALPINDI: All-rounder Faheem Ashraf on Friday, shared that he is focused on making a comeback to the national team by delivering stellar performances in domestic tournaments.

Faheem, who is captaining Dolphins in the ongoing Champions T20 Cup, has been out of the national team since 2023, with his most recent appearance for the green shirts being the first Test of the three-match away series against Australia in December last year.

The all-rounder, however, is determined to deliver notable performances in the domestic circuit, while he is away from the national team.

“As a cricketer, I try to play and perform in whatever cricket I get while I am away from the [national] team. Be it, league cricket or domestic, I try to give my best,” said Faheem.

“I’ve been playing domestic cricket since Champions [One-Day] Cup and I’m trying to give best for my team and for myself,” he added.

The all-rounder also highlighted the importance of red-ball cricket, stating it helps both batters and bowlers in improving their respective techniques.

“Playing red-ball cricket, helps improving the technique of the batters, while it helps the bowlers to improve their line and length and stamina.

“It is true that our players are more focused on white-ball cricket but if we focus on red-ball cricket, we will also improve in One-Day and T20s.

For the unversed, Faheem Ashraf-led Dolphins are going through a rough patch in the ongoing Champions T20 Cup as the side are yet to register their first victory after competing in four matches.
